To keep your skin fresh, healthy, and as youthful as possible it’s important to follow an effective skin care routine. Specific products will vary depending on your skin type (oily, dry, combination), but the following products are all important to maintain your healthy glow.
Step 1 – Cleanser
Start off with a cleanser (at night and in the morning) to remove skin’s impurities and dirt. However, it is important to find a cleanser that doesn’t dry your skin out and remove essential oils.
Step 2 – Toner
Toner should be applied immediately after the cleanser to restore the skin’s pH levels and help prep the skin for serum and moisturizer. Toner helps improve skin’s texture and hydration.
Step 3 - Serum
Serums are great products that help protect skin against signs of aging. Serums are generally full of nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants that will help keep your skin vibrant and healthy. A good serum will rejuvenate skin cells and boost collegen production.
Step 4 – Moisturizer
It might sound surprising, but even if you have oily skin, you shouldn’t avoid moisturizer. Moisturizer is a crucial step in the skin care routine. A good moisturizer will help hydrate your skin, not make it greasy. As an added bonus, it’s helpful to use a daytime moisturizer with SPF.
Step 5 (Optionals) – Eye Creams, Exfoliators, Masks
In addition to the steps above, you may want to consider using an eye cream, exfoliator, and masks. For eye creams, avoid anything to heavy – it can create puffiness. You’ll want to look for a light-weight cream or gel. Exfoliating is a great step to reveal younger, smoother skin. It’s recommended to use an exfoliator or scrub about once a week. Using a mask weekly can also rejuvenate skin, regenerate oil, and hydrate.
