Introducing sibu Beauty

sibu-logo

Charleston Naturally is pleased to welcome a new brand to our store, Sibu Beauty. From Liquid supplements to Hydrating Serum’s, Sibu Beauty offers an amazing, natural product line that has been recognized by Doctor. Oz and the Dali Lama

Sibu’s secret ingredient is the Sea Buckthorn plant. The plant grows a vibrant orange berry, which thrives in some wickedly harsh climates in the Himalayan Mountains. The local people, who live in Tibet, harvest these berries, puree them, and then send them to the United States to be made into various beauty products for the brand.

Sibu has also set up Fair Trade Operations with the local villagers, to make sure that they were harvesting the best of the best of this rich, mighty berry, all while doing so in the most eco-friendly and economical way. Sibu knows that the harvesting of this berry provides an income for the indigenous people of the Himalayan Mountains, and even though the harvest period is only a few short weeks, the villagers can survive off of the money they make throughout the entire winter season.

Sibu products are jam packed with nutrients that help rejuvenate the body inside and out. The berries are a miracle for hair, skin and nails because of the many antioxidants it contains, as well as fatty acids like Omega 7.

We are thrilled to start offering Sibu to our amazing clients and new followers. We hope you become a big fan just like us.

Organic Beauty: A Refresher

Think “organic” skin care and beauty items are simply a marketing ploy? Think again – there are some clear benefits to choosing organic and natural ingredients when you choose items that you apply to your body’s largest organ – your skin. Organic beauty items are beneficial in two big ways – they include items that are good for your skin, and exclude ingredients that can be harmful.

Since the Food and Drug Administration monitors only the products that are designed to be consumed, skincare is not overseen by a governing body that requires safe ingredients and practices – and that can end up hurting you, the consumer. One of the best ways to protect yourself and your family against potentially harmful ingredients is to avoid them entirely by choosing organic products, which don’t include chemical hazards.

Dangerous Beauty: According to statistics from the Cosmetic Ingredient Review group, some of the hundreds of potentially harmful chemicals and compounds found in conventional cosmetics and beauty products include:

  • Parabens
  • Phthalates
  • Mercury
  • DEA
  • Lead
  • Placental extract
  • Aluminum
  • Formaldehyde

Some ingredients may be of special concern to vegans – placental extract and some forms of progesterone have animal origins.

Organics – A safer alternative:

Organic skin care offers the same benefits as its chemical-laden counterparts, without the risk and exposure. Plant based ingredients that are free of synthetic fragrances and chemicals are betteryou’re your skin, and better for your health, too. Look for products labeled “organic” and start reading labels – even the tiny print. The more words you can’t pronounce, the more chemicals the product likely contains.

Look for beneficial oils and butters – shea butter and mango butter are natural and effective moisturizers for your skin. Fragrances should be listed by name – organic essential oils have recognizable names like Lavender, Tea Tree and Rosemary. “Fragrance” as an ingredient points to a synthetic, chemical creation and is likely something that needs more investigation.

Product Spotlight: suki exfoliate foaming cleanser

Created for all skin types, this deliciously scented cleanser and exfoliant brightens the complexion, minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, refines pores, and promotes collagen production for smoother, more radiant skin.

Organic rice flour and sugar smoothes and detoxifies the skin while lemongrass extract purifies and tones. Especially effective on congested, acne-prone skin.

Not recommended for rosacea-prone skin or cystic acne conditions. This product is vegan.

Introducing Yarok Hair Care

Charleston Naturally is thrilled to introduce the Yarok hair care collection to our growing community of organic beauty enthusiasts.

Yarok had us with their tagline: “Food for your hair, Good for the Planet.” This luxury hair and scalp care line is 100% vegan made from the purest, most responsibly harvested botanicals and essential oils. Yarok takes its name from the Hebrew word for “green” and is dedicated to sustainable practices and giving back initiatives.

Yarok believes that creating a luxury line of natural hair care doesn’t have to take a toll on the environment. Yarok infuses their products with organic and all natural botanicals giving hair shape, styling and volume. All ingredients are consciously sourced and responsibly harvested and produced in small batches to ensure maximum potency, freshness and effectiveness.

Everything they make, from their packaging to their signature formulations to the day-to-day operations, is geared towards supporting environmental causes. They allocate 3% back of their revenue to the Pachimama Alliance, a non-profit that supports the indigenous people of Ecuador and Peru and protects the Amazonian Rainforest.

Reowned Israeli hair stylist Mordechai Alvow founded Yarok in 2010 to provide the most nourishing, eco-friendly and effective hair and scalp products for salons and individuals. Alvow grew up using natural remedies from essential oils mixed by his mother and grandmother. After joining the beauty industry professionally, he started suffering from terrible allergic reactions from all the chemicals in commercial hair care products. Alvow went back to his roots and started creating products that contribute to the health of the planet as well as help people look and feel fabulous.

He began testing the products on his celebrity clients and was amazed by how effective they were on dry, damaged hair. Yarok is formulated to heal the hair and scalp, bringing it back “to its youth.” Yarok’s tagline “Food for your hair” speaks to the restorative, nurturing properties of the hair care line. Yarok operates a sustainable hair salon and showroom aptly named Yarok Beauty Kitchen in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood dedicated to the brand’s organic and sustainable lifestyle.

New Brand Alert: Yarok Hair

When selecting safe, natural beauty products, it’s important to look cover all bases. Body and face care are very important, but people often forget about their scalp and hair. Your scalp is one of the most absorbent parts of the body; making it all the more important that you choose a hair care solution with safe ingredients.

Charleston Naturally is proud to now carry the full Yarok Hair care line. From Yarok:

Each YAROK formula is a powerful blend of organic and all-natural botanicals that are consciously sourced and responsibly harvested. YAROK uses primarily “certified organic” ingredients. Very few hair care companies can say that every one of their products meet 100% of all vegan requirements. Even fewer can claim that their entire hair care line is free of alcohol, paraben, sulfates and cruelty to animals, and that they work beautifully, too. Yarok can say all of the above.

YAROK carries a wide range of hair care products: from the Volume Shampoo and Conditioner, to their popular hair serums, to great, safe hair styling products. Check out the new line today!

The body butter is extremely creamy, rich and provides great hydration for skin.
