I guess my favorite 4th of July memory has to be how my husband and father-in-law used to see who could bring the biggest and prettiest fireworks finale to the family picnic. They would come up with some of the neatest displays.

My favorite 4th of July celebration was in Philadelphia – I don’t remember the year.. all I remember is Philly knows how to do fireworks! All the sky lit up, the trees had white lights, and as a child I remember thinking.. ‘this is the best 4th of July ever!’

Thanks for the memories Jody…..fireworks are my favorite too! It’s always fun to see what amateurs can do with them.

What a great memory…..you should come to Charleston this year to create another spectacular memory. Our fireworks over the many beaches and the Ravenel Bridge are sight to behold.

I signed up for the newsletter and tweeted about it. My fave 4th of July memory was watching the fireworks at my aunt’s lake house near the Wisconsin Dells. Don’t see that family too often or spend a whole lot of time in the Midwest so it was special.

Hello Amanda! There is something spectacular about watching fireworks going off over the water. We often jump in the boat and watch the fireworks display at Patriot’s Point. Awesome!

My favorite 4th of July memories are the bits and pieces that make up the day each year. Grilling outdoors in the heat, and the relief of jumping into the water. Sweet watermelon on salty lips. Staying in your bathing suit all day long. Oooing and aahing over fireworks at the end of the day with a cold drink. Remembering the brave forefathers and mothers who put their lives and everything they knew on the line for this great experiment. Happy Independence Day!

My best memories are listening to the Star Spangled Banner with fireworks bursting everywhere – while holding my Dad’s hand in mine.

I signed up for your email newsletter. My favorite 4th of July memory is when I was 9 years old. We had a huge cookout in our backyard with friends and family and we had our own mini fireworks display. That 4th of July just sticks in my memory more than any other.

    Nicole,
There is something magical about being 9 years old. Some of my most precious memories are from that time before teen age years — when we’re still innocent and full of awe.

Although disgusting, my favorite 4th of July memory is that of several years ago when we all went to the NY State fairgrounds to watch the fireworks. We set out blankets and laid down to see the show. My daughter was 2 at the time and she laid on top of me with her back to my front. A few minutes into it, she threw up and it went all down my neck, my shirt and in my ear. It was so nasty, but very memorable and now that she is 8, she loves to hear about that day!
